In the past decade, at least eighteen people have died inside the Montgomery County Jail; seven in 2023 alone, making it the deadliest jail in Ohio that year. The jail is a notorious site of abuse, neglect, and death and our leaders have failed to address the violence. We demand the creation of a permanent, independent oversight body to ensure the jail is as safe and humane as possible.
