We surpassed our goal of 2,000 signatures and delivered the petition to the sheriff and county commissioners. The petition demands the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners create a permanent, independent oversight body made up of civilians to oversee the Montgomery County Jail. We demand immediate action to address the alarming number of deaths and incidents of abuse and neglect within the facility. The Montgomery County Jail Coalition remains concerned about the lack of transparency, accountability, and reform to a system that has drawn years of public outcry.

The response from the public has been overwhelming. Our community knows there is a problem with the culture inside of our jail and we are ready for change!
